The Érudit’s and Public Knowledge Project’s team members want to affirm their formal and enthusiastic support for Jussieu’s Call for Open Science and Bibliodiversity. The two organizations, which have been developing open and interoperable research infrastructures for some time, have joined together in 2017 (CO-SHS project) to create a sustainable open access funding model based on partnerships with Canadian research libraries (Open Access Partnership, Coalition Publi.ca). Érudit and PKP are also very active on a broad range of international initiatives with other groups (African Journals Online, Collaborative Knowledge Foundation, ImpactStory, Huma-Num, OpenEdition, Open Library of Humanities, Persée, SciELO and others) that share similar objectives.
We believe that it is urgent to redefine the balance of power in the world of scholarly publishing for a free circulation of knowledge. It is in order to affirm the importance of a reinforcement of the collaborations among non-commercial research infrastructures that Érudit and the Public Knowledge Project join the initiators of the Jussieu Call and encourage the SSH research community to read it.
