Montréal (Québec), April 17, 2015 – The dissemination and research platform Érudit is proud to announce the appointment of Professor Vincent Larivière as its Scientific Director.
In this capacity, Mr. Larivière will participate in the planning of Érudit’s strategic orientation and will be the institution’s spokesperson to the research community. He will also contribute to the reflection on issues affecting scholarly journals, including Open Access and means of supporting the publication of French-language research results.
Specialist of new modes of research results dissemination, Vincent Larivière is holder of the Canada Research Chair on the Transformations of Scholarly Communication at Université de Montréal. He’s also an Assistant Professor in the École de bibliothéconomie et des sciences de l’information and the Assistant Scientific Director of Observatoire des sciences et des technologies.
“This appointment is great news for Érudit and all the journals published on the platform”, stressed Dominique Bérubé, Associate Vice-Rector of Research at Université de Montréal and Chairwoman of Consortium Érudit. “With his knowledge of scientific publishing and his research in this field, Vincent Larivière brings a unique expertise for the development of our organization and for the future of the scholarly communication system in the humanities, social sciences and arts.”
Vincent Larivière will lead the conference “Une plateforme de recherche et d’expérimentation pour l’édition ouverte” on May 25, 2015 during the ACFAS congress.
