Since 2018, the city of Nantes and Printemps numérique have begun a collaboration that has grown stronger over the years. During the 2022 edition of MTL connects, a delegation of young students and professionals from Nantes and Quebec were invited to launch their manifesto on a responsible digital world.
The 4th international event MTL Connect: Montreal Digital Week, which took place from October 15 to 23, aims to look across the board at the main questions related to digital development, focusing on its economic, social, cultural and environmental impacts in various sectors of activity. We previously suggested a reading list related to the event’s programming.
In line with the 2022 theme: ECO(Systèmes) d’Espoir, the group of young people reflected on what digital technology will be – or should be – by 2034. They were assisted in their work by Raphaël Suire, professor of economics and management at the University of Nantes, Thierry Beaupré-Gateau, professor in the Department of Management at ESG-UQAM, and facilitator Christel Tardif.
Among the concerns of the signatories of the manifesto, we highlight the use of digital technology in an eco-responsible manner, over-information and misinformation, ethics and data appropriation, digital literacy, artificial intelligence, Web 3.0 and quantum computing.
These reflections surrounding the manifesto, which is committed to responsible and desirable digital technology, have led to the publication of issue number zero of “Débranché – La tribune numérique responsable“, which we invite you to read (in French only).
